Another great tournament for our members. Other than a couple of hiccups, in judging and administration, it was a well organized and run tournament. Congratulations to the organizers and volunteers.

A total of 32 of our members participated in the three events including individual-kata, kumite and team kata. In addition, 10 members challenged a rank or age group higher than their own. A total of 63 medals were won (unofficial count) -- 23 gold, 15 silver and 25 bronze.

Several of our members came away with a medal in each event. Leading the way was Geoffrey Newell with 3 gold and one silver, closely followed by: Cody Lan-Phavongkham with 3 gold and one bronze, Carah Webster and Alyshia Lan-Phavongkham with 2 gold and 2 silver, and Jean Newell with 2 gold, one silver and one bronze.

Perhaps the highlight of the tournament was watching our youngest members compete. They put their little hearts into whatever they were doing without thoughts of winning a medal. What a treat watching them.
